Attenuation Tank & Flow Control Chamber, Beach Road, Selsey

• To minimise flooding to properties in the local area, Southern Water determined that a new Attenuation Tank and Flow Control Chamber was needed in order to provide increased storage capacity within the local sewer network.

• Impact Formwork were tasked with the construction of a new 11.5m x 3.5m x 1.6m deep rectangular reinforced concrete structure, comprising of constructing a reinforced concrete base, then installing a bespoke Polypropylene attenuation tank, before constructing the reinforced concrete walls and roof slab complete with access openings.

• In addition, Impact Formwork were also required to construct a new precast concrete Flow Control Chamber downstream of the Attenuation Chamber as well.

• All groundworks including pipework, were carried out by the client but the RC works and Flow Control Chamber were carried out within a restricted excavation due to the location on a narrow residential street.
