Attenuation Tank & Flow Control Chamber, Beach Road, Selsey

To minimise flooding to properties in the local area, Southern Water determined that a new Attenuation Tank and Flow Control Chamber was needed in order to provide increased storage capacity within the local sewer network.

Impact Formwork were tasked with the construction of a new 11.5m x 3.5m x 1.6m deep rectangular reinforced concrete structure, comprising of constructing a reinforced concrete base, then installing a bespoke Polypropylene attenuation tank, before constructing the reinforced concrete walls and roof slab complete with access openings.

In addition, Impact Formwork were also required to construct a new precast concrete Flow Control Chamber downstream of the Attenuation Chamber as well.

All groundworks including pipework, were carried out by the client but the RC works and Flow Control Chamber were carried out within a restricted excavation due to the location on a narrow residential street.
